AvaRange
Workshop Innsbruck - Spring 2023
   1 min read    Michael Neuhauser(BFW)

In March 2023 we met again for an AvaRange workshop in Innsbruck with the major goal to investigate the ranging performance in the test area and under snow cover conditions. A further point we investigated were the upgraded GNSS modules (ublox ZED-F9P) in the AvaNodes Gen.III under snow cover.
The tests where performed at Seegrube to eventually detected some environmental properties that influence the measurements.

Overview
Workshop March 2023 - Seegrube. Dr. Jan-Thomas Fischer shows the students how one can measure snow parameters and identify layers in the snow cover.

To have reference positions of our measurements every point was recorded with an Emlid Reach 2+ module.

To identify the influence of the snow cover we performed every measurement with different layer thicknesses of snow cover and without it. Furthermore the experiments are divided into static and dynamic experiments, to get an idea how the ranging performs in dynamic environments.
